چکیده

The problem of the uncontrolled spread alien plant species matured in world second half 20th century, and recent decades it has become main threat to biological diversity various regions world. Prevention Invasions is a new urgent task field nature protection, which determines relevance study. purpose study determine predict distribution area invasive plants, based on use following methods: comparative morphological-ecological-geographical, route using determinants atlases plants Ukraine, method structural analysis. It established that characteristic features are very high tolerance habitat climatic conditions, rate reproduction, simple effective by wind, water, animals, rapid growth, contributes displacement slow-growing other absence natural enemies restrictions. A particular danger biodiversity Ukraine species: Sosnowsky’s Hogweed (Heracleum sosnowskyi), Canadian Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis L), American maple (Acer negundo L.), Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Common Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca Silver Berry (Elaeagnus angustifolia), pokeweed (Phytolacca Americana), Ecballium (Ecballium elaterium), Sandbur (Cenchrus pauciflorus Benth), Wall Barley (Hordeum murinum Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), etc. results an important scientific practical basis for developing national regional strategies controlling

Preadapted for invasiveness : do species traits or their plastic response to shading differ between invasive and non - invasive plant species in their native range ?

Aim Species capable of vigorous growth under a wide range of environmental conditions should have a higher chance of becoming invasive after introduction into new regions. High performance across environments can be achieved either by constitutively expressed traits that allow for high resource uptake under different environmental conditions or by adaptive plasticity of traits. Here we test whe...

A multi-species experiment in their native range indicates pre-adaptation of invasive alien plant species.

*To understand prerequisites of biological invasions, it is imperative to know whether species have traits that pre-adapt them to become invasive elsewhere. However, few experimental studies have explicitly tested this by comparing traits between invasive and noninvasive species in their native range instead of in the nonnative range. *We used native plant material of 14 European congeneric pai...

Priority threat management of invasive animals to protect biodiversity under climate change.

Climate change is a major threat to global biodiversity, and its impacts can act synergistically to heighten the severity of other threats. Most research on projecting species range shifts under climate change has not been translated to informing priority management strategies on the ground. We develop a prioritization framework to assess strategies for managing threats to biodiversity under cl...

Importance of hybridization between indigenous and nonindigenous freshwater species: an overlooked threat to North American biodiversity.

Biodiversity of North American freshwaters is among the greatest in the world. However, due to extensive habitat degradation, pollution, and introductions of nonindigenous species, this biodiversity is also among the most endangered. Unlike habitat degradation and pollution, nonindigenous species represent a permanent loss of biodiversity because their removal or control is often impossible. Mo...
